Remember the Indiana Jones film series? Of course, you do. BUT do you remember what Indiana Jones did for a living?
He was a university professor art university.
That was probably the first time we saw someone who was a superstar at a regular job. It started a trend that became the life’s blood of reality TV and so much more.
We have seen 9-to-5 workers sing their hearts out and enter stardom on programs like The Voice and American Idol; we watched fashion designers rocket to icon status on programs like Making the Cut and Project Runway; we seen chefs and cooks become greater than great (and survive a Chef Ramsey tirade) on programs like MasterChef, Hell’s Kitchen, and Top Chef.
Now, the supernatural uprising in social media thanks — in part — to the pandemic, we return to the glory Hollywood days of being “discovered” in some unusual places.
Case in point: Pablito the bartender (aka Paolo Bentino). YouTube first captured with charismatic cocktail captain and he skyrocketed from there.
